CCU wraps up spring football practice a little differently as the Chanticleers look ahead to the fall (AUDIO)

Coastal Carolina football put a lid on spring practice Saturday, but not with a game. Instead, the Chanticleers did it with a “showcase.”

“The idea behind this was, you know, there’s so many new players anymore to have something like this where it’s kind of an in-between,” CCU HC Tim Beck explained. “We’re still safe where we’re not putting players at risk of injury on the last practice, but yet the fans can start to see some of the new faces, the new numbers, to start to get a connection to our football team for the fall.”

Following the baseball team’s 4-1 victory over Arkansas State on Saturday afternoon, the football team took the field at Brooks Stadium to conclude spring workouts. The squad conducted a fairly routine practice in front of its home fans. No score was kept as the players weren’t split into separate teams aside from the offense working against the defense.

After the practice concluded, the players were available for autographs prior to a screening of the Disney movie Moana 2. Head coach Tim Beck also stopped to chat with the media and update the progress of his team during the spring and preview what’s ahead for the Chanticleers prior to their season opener at Virginia on August 30th.
