Swinney previews Clemson Fall Camp, talks Vizzina, Reynolds and injury updates (VIDEO)

The calendar has rolled into August, signaling the start of football season in Clemson. The Tigers began fall camp Thursday, starting the buildup towards their season opener at LSU. Head coach Dabo Swinney met with the media for an update on personnel and other developments from the summer prior to heading out to join his team.

Swinney’s Key Comments

• Long-term (injury) guys (DT) Hevin Brown-Shuler, who is doing good in cancer treatment, (OL) Adam Guthrie, and (RB) Peyton Streko.
• This is where the fun begins where we can actually get back on the field.
• Big thing I’m looking for is to see the best version of the guys we challenged in the spring.
• We ain’t going to win no games standing on a weight scale.
• I don’t have any starters. We are going to evaluate them everyday. That’s where we’re at. I don’t have a depth chart.
• I can’t wait to evaluate him (DT Andy Burburija). He’s done a great job so far. Let’s see how he can fill an A-gap.
• I don’t know what you wouldn’t like (about QB Tait Reynolds profile).
• We are evaluating every player about what they put on tape. You’re evaluating everything: Response, body language, etc. (On evaluating the QB competition).
• I think people think if (LB) Sammy Brown isn’t out there, we aren’t going to be any good.
• The guys respect CV (Christopher Vizzina). He also has a lot to prove. He’s got to go earn it. Game knows game.

• We lead the nation in one score wins in the last 15 years, but it did not go that way last year.
• We got to get everybody all-in in being, thinking, and doing their best, and maybe we could be the best.
• Our roster is set. We play in 30 days. Ain’t nobody coming in here to save us. (When asked of the Colorado ruling).
• Ashton (Hampton) had a field day in the spring. I almost had to take him out of practice. I felt bad for them (trio of freshmen WRs).
• I like camp. I really like camp. We don’t have clocks. If I want to start a period over, I can start a period over.
