STRecruiting: Clemson scores big in-state recruiting win Saturday with a public commitment from DL Seth Tillman of South Pointe

Clemson turned the tables on South Carolina in winning the battle for DT Seth Tillman (6-3 256) of South Pointe. The Gamecocks have long dominated the Football City recruiting turf, and in particular, at South Pointe.

But with Nick Eason doing the heavy lifting, the Tigers overcame what appeared to be the early USC advantage to get the pledge.

“Clemson wants me at three-tech to an end,” Tillman said during the recruiting process. “I can play both of the positions, and they like my speed, hand movements, quickness and strength.”

Tillman also had Georgia, Michigan and Kentucky in his final five. Some of his other offers included LSU, North Carolina, Texas A&M, Georgia Tech, Syracuse, Maryland, Virginia Tech, NC State, Arkansas, Nebraska, Florida State, Tennessee and Florida.

Tillman made official visits to USC, Clemson, Georgia and Michigan. He also visited Clemson earlier this year for a recruiting event in March.

Tillman emerged as a major prospect during his junior season. He had 61 tackles with 27 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks.

Clemson now has 25 commitments for the 2027 class, and the second at defensive tackle. He also gives the Tigers four commitments from in-state prospects.
