STRecruiting: Clemson makes it a Wednesday two-fer for the offense with WR Jamarin Simmons jumping on board

For the second time this week, Clemson has gone into the backyard of a major rival and snagged a major talent. On Monday, the Tigers gained the commitment of SAF Jarrell Chandler of Knoxville. On Wednesday, the Tigers added WR Jamarin Simmons (5-11 160) of Tallahassee. But unlike in the case of Chandler, where the hometown Vols were in it to the end, Simmons had Florida and not Florida State as the major rival for the Tigers.

Florida just got a commitment from another receiver in Elias Pearl, but that probably had little impact on Simmons, who had long been considered a Clemson lean. He visited Clemson for games in 2024 and 2025, and he camped with the Tigers last summer. He was also in for a recruiting event in early March.

Simmons also had offers from Florida State, Miami, Ole Miss, Louisville, Colorado, Pitt, Washington, Kentucky, Auburn, Nebraska, and Wisconsin, among others. Over the spring, he also visited Tennessee, Auburn, LSU, and Florida.

As a sophomore, Simmons had 49 catches for 996 yards and eight touchdowns. Last season, he had 59 catches for 932 yards and 14 touchdowns. For his career, Simmons has 116 catches for 2037 yards and 25 touchdowns.

Simmons is the second wide receiver commitment for the 2027 recruiting class for Clemson and the tenth overall.
