STRecruiting: Clemson lands tight end Wright Martin for 2028 class

Wright Martin

Clemson added its second commitment to the 2028 class on Thursday when TE Wright Martin (6-2 250) of Nashville revealed his plans to sign with the Tigers next December. Martin has a strong football background. He’s the son of former Furman and NFL quarterback Ingle Martin, who is also his high school head coach.

Martin has been clued in on Clemson and tight ends coach Kyle Richardson for a long time, going back to when the Tigers recruited linebacker Kane Patterson from his school, and to his days attending the Dabo Swinney summer camp.

“I went to the Furman game in the fall (2025) and camp (last) summer,” Wright said earlier this year. “At both of those, Coach Richardson was awesome. Once he offered, I was fired up because I’ve always liked Clemson since Kane Patterson went there. With everything Coach Swinney has built, I’ve always thought they were a great program. Once I got to be around him and Coach Rich, it made me realize that even more.”

Martin has gotten more exposure to the Tigers this season with visits for the Georgia Southern and Miami games. He also has offers from Ohio State, Georgia, Virginia, Maryland, Duke, Wake Forest, Boston College, Wisconsin, Arkansas, SMU, Purdue, and others.

Martin committed to Clemson just a few days after visiting Ohio State. He’s also been to games this season at Georgia, Virginia, and Virginia Tech.

Through eight games this season, Martin has 30 catches for 385 yards. For his career, he has 53 catches for 594 yards. He has three rushing touchdowns in his career.
