Jacob Hinderleider hit his first two homers as a Tigers to help no. 8 Clemson claim Game 2 of its series with Kennesaw State 8-6 at Doug Kingsmore Stadium, Saturday.

The Tigers trailed 6-5 after seven innings and were in danger of dropping their second straight game to the Owls before Hinderleider knotted the game up when he blasted a 1-2 pitch over the wall in center field for his second home run of the game. Hinderleider had previously hit his first homer as a Tiger with a shot to left-center in the third.

Blake Wright broke the tie with an RBI single later in the frame to put Clemson (5-1) back in front. Alden Mathes’ sacrifice fly plated the Tigers’ eighth run and Rob Hughes pitched a perfect ninth to register his first save of the season. Ethan Darden (1-0) picked up the win in relief.

With the victory, Clemson became the ninth Division I program to reach 3,000 wins.

Cam Cannarella drove in four runs and rapped out three hits, including a two-run homer, extending his hitting streak to 15 games. Jack Crighton was 4-for-4 out of the 9-hole, raising his early-season average to .500.
