#Clemson stays undefeated in ACC play with 80-68 win over Cal Saturday night at Littlejohn Coliseum (AUDIO)

LITTLEJOHN COLISEUM: Clemson capped off their three-game home stand Saturday night with an 80-68 victory over the California Golden Bears. The Tigers had a great offensive performance shooting 62% from the floor as they imporved to 12-3 overall and 4-0 in the ACC.

The opening half went back and forth with Chase Hunter and Andrej Stojakvic leading the way. Clemson’s shooting remained around 60% compared to Cal’s 40%, but the Tigers seven turnovers in the first 12 minutes kept them from pulling away early.

To close the first half, Clemson’s hot hand grew the lead to nine points, but two threes to close out the half, including a fall-away three by Stojakovic, cut the lead to 39-36 at the half. Clemson shot 64% from three, but Cal’s 12 points off turnovers kept them flirting with an upset at halftime.

In the second half, Clemson kept up the hot shooting. The Tigers went on a 22-10 run in the first 10:00 minutes of the second to extend the lead to 12. The Tigers went seven of nine from the field and held the Golden Bears to one of seven in building their lead.

The Tigers wrapped up the last 10 minutes of the game by keeping the double-digit lead most of the way. Nine points was as close as Cal could get. Clemson’s 1-2 punch of Ian Schieffelin and Hunter led the second-half attack, allowing the Tigers to keep a comfortable lead.

Stojakovic led all scorers with 30 points on an efficient 11-for-15 shooting night. Schieffelin led the Tigers with 21 points on 8-for-10 shooting while leading the night with seven rebounds. Hunter kept his hot hand going, with 19 points, six assists and five rebounds. He also showcased his defensive prowess with one block and two steals.

After a season-high 17 points against Stanford, Chauncey Wiggins continued his good play with 15 points shooting 7-for-10 shooting in 24 minutes on the floor.

The Tigers shot 44% from the three-point line (8-18). Seven different Tigers made a three with Del Jones knocking down a pair.

Clemson moved to 9-1 at Littlejohn Coliseum this season. The Tigers travel to Louisville for their next game on Tuesday. Tipoff will be at 7:00 and the game will be televised on ESPNU.
