Clemson kept the good times rolling with a 12-5 victory over UNC Greensboro at Doug Kingsmore Stadium, Friday, marking the seventh straight win for the Tigers.

The Spartans jumped on Clemson starter Austin Gordon, touching up the junior righthander for four runs on six hits in the top of the second. The Tigers lineup had his back, however, and got Gordon off the hook by posting eight runs in the home half of the second. Jarren Purify delivered the big blow, a 413-foot three-run blast that turned the momentum in Clemson’s favor. Cam Cannarella followed with his third homer of the season to knot the game up at 4-4. Clemson added four more runs on a wild pitch, an RBI single from Jacob Hinderleider (2-3, 3 RBI) and a two-run single from Andrew Ciufo.

Ciufo would later drive home a third run on a sacrifice fly and Nolan Nawrocki (.378) singled in the fourth to extend his hitting streak to 10 games. Alden Mathes (2-4) scored three runs and raised his average to .405. Rocco Reid (1-0) relieved Gordon in the fifth and picked up his first career win.

Game 2 of the series between the Spartans (8-5) and the Tigers (11-1) is scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday.
