Ian Schieffelin scored 12 of his 18 points after the break to spark Clemson’s 46-point second half in the Tigers’ 70-55 victory over San Francisco at the Sunshine Slam in Orlando, Fla., Monday.
The Tigers trailed 29-24 at halftime before shooting 64.3% in the second half to pull away. Clemson’s offense struggled to get on track, committing eight turnovers in the first half to just three assists. But head coach Brad Brownell adjusted by running the offense through Schieffelin. The senior center responded with a dozen points and four assists in the second half.
Schieffelin’s teammates found their touch from the perimeter, knocking down 5 of 8 from the behind arc after halftime. Viktor Lakhin was hampered by early foul trouble but responded with 12 points in just 19 minutes of floor time. Dillon Hunter joined Schieffelin and Lakhin in double figures with 11.
Clemson will face Penn State in the Sunshine Slam final after the Nittany Lions dismissed Fordham 85-66. Tuesday’s tipoff between the Tigers and the Nittany Lions is scheduled for 4 p.m.
