Clemson came from behind 25 times in 2024, often in dramatic fashion. The Tigers opened the 2025 season with yet another comeback victory over Oklahoma State, Friday. But in Game 2 of the Shriners Children’s College Showdown in Arlington, Tex., Saturday, Clemson dispensed with the drama, ambushing Arizona for seven runs in the first inning en route to a dominant 16-5 victory.
After going hitless in the opener, Cam Cannarella doubled three times and scored four runs against the Wildcats. Dominic Listi moved to the leadoff spot and took full advantage, singling and scoring in the first inning before driving in four runs.
Clemson plated 16 runs without a triple or a homer, relying instead 11 singles and six doubles. The Tigers lineup feasted on RBI opportunities, going 10 for 16 (.625) with runners in scoring position.
Drew Titsworth (1-0) picked up the win in relief of starter Ethan Darden, who fanned six over four scoreless innings.
The Tigers are off to a hot start at the plate, batting .297 as a team through two games at Globe Life Stadium. Clemson (2-0) will look to lay claim to first place in the tournament when they square off with Ole Miss at 3:30 p.m., Sunday.
