  • In a game that was tight all the way, the Tigers trailed 35-34 at the half despite shooting 54%. But Pitt countered with five three-pointers.
  • Clemson went on an 8-0 run early in the second half to take a 46-39 lead, and held the lead until the 9:27 mark when a driving layup by Omari Washington put the Panthers ahead 54-53.
  • Jestin Porter hit a three with 7:11 remaining to put Clemson up 59-56, and the Tigers led the rest of the way. After a Pitt dunk, Porter hit another three for a four point Clemson lead.
  • The Panthers went up by three points, and then Butta Johnson tied the game at 56 with 8:46 left.
  • The Tigers eventually built a seven point lead with 2:39 left on a layup by Porter, their final bucket of the game. They hit five of seven free throws the rest of the way to offset five points by Witherspoon and a pair of free throws by Brandin Cummings.
  • Porter led Clemson with a season high 21 points on 8-12 shooting, including three triples. RJ Godfrey and Nick Davidson had 14 points each.
  • The Tigers shot 53% for the game, their second best figure of the season, and their best against a Power 4 program.
  • This was the 19th time Clemson had opened its ACC schedule with a pair of road games, and it’s the first time the Tigers won both games.
  • Clemson is now 12-3 overall and 2-0 in the ACC and will host SMU Wednesday night at 9:00 PM.
