Clemson judge gives Clemson DT Vic Burley a chance to clear his record; Burley issues an apology for his arrest

While his teammates were continuing their preparations for the game at LSU on September 5th, suspended Clemson defensive tackle Vic Burley was in Clemson University Municipal Court pleading guilty to a public disorderly conduct charge stemming from his arrest early Saturday morning.

The judge in the case took advantage of a South Carolina law that allows for a conditional discharge for a person who has not previously been convicted of public disorderly conduct or a similar offense. This will allow Burley to clear his name of the charge, but only if he successfully completes a six-month program.

Burley must remain out of criminal trouble for six months, complete a drug or alcohol education program, perform community service (24 hours’ worth; outside of Clemson football team activities), and attend Clemson University’s IMPACTed education course. He must provide proof that he completed each requirement to the municipal court before the six-month period expires.

In the court of Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney, Burley remains under suspension.
