After dropping three consecutive ACC series, the Clemson Tigers needed some positive mojo heading into next week’s ACC tournament in Durham. Enter Pittsburgh.

The Tigers tossed a no-hitter in the series opener before scoring 24 runs over the last two games in sweeping the Panthers out of Charles L. Cost Field in Pittsburgh. Saturday’s 13-6 victory completed the regular season for Clemson with a 41-15 overall mark and an 18-12 ACC slate.

Clemson will either be the No. 4 or No. 5 seed in the single-elimination ACC Tournament, with their first opponent, day, time, and seed to be determined on Saturday evening.

Jack Crighton was the star on Saturday afternoon, going 4-for-5 with three doubles, a triple, and three runs scored. According to Clemson, Crighton’s three doubles matched a school record, as it was the 20th three-double game by a Tiger in program history. Collin Priest also brought his big bat to the park as the DH swatted a homer and drove in five.

Cam Cannarella extended his hitting streak to 15 games with a single in the first inning, then Priest added a two-run home run, his 11th of the year. After Clemson scored a run in the second inning, Dominic Listi belted a three-run homer, his fourth of the season, to extend the visitor’s lead to 6-0 in the third. And the good times kept going at the plate as Jacob Jarrell followed with his 13th homer of the year before Crighton doubled and eventually scored on a groundout to up the advantage to 8-0 after three.

With the Tigers closing in on a mercy-rule victory, the Panthers dented the scoreboard with a two-out run in the bottom of the fifth inning to make the score 10-1. In the sixth, Jayden Melendez crushed a two-run homer, with Jake Kendro adding a solo home run in the next at-bat to cut the Panthers’ deficit to 10-4. However, that was as close as Pittsburgh would get, as the Tigers added three runs over the last three innings to cruise to the series sweep.

Tiger starter Talan Bell pitched 4.0 scoreless innings of three-hit ball with three strikeouts, then Joe Allen (4-0) pitched the fifth inning to earn the win. Pittsburgh starter Aidan Coleman (2-2) suffered the loss, as he surrendered six runs on seven hits in 2.1 innings pitched.
