Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney announced on Saturday afternoon that 5th-year defensive tackle Vic Burley was arrested early Saturday morning for disorderly conduct and will be suspended indefinitely. Burley was set for a larger role within Clemson’s defense and had a few flashes in Thursday’s preseason scrimmage, per the head coach.

Here is Swinney’s full statement regarding Burley’s arrest:

“Earlier today, I was made aware of defensive tackle Vic Burley’s arrest by the Clemson University Police Department for disorderly conduct early Saturday morning. I have made the decision to suspend Vic from our football team indefinitely. We are extremely disappointed by his actions and decisions.”

Burley had the most career FBS snaps among Clemson’s current defensive tackles, with 257 entering the season. The Tigers lost their top three defensive tackles from last season to either the NFL Draft or transfer portal, leaving Burley among the players expected to compete for an expanded role in 2026.
