Just two days removed from giving up 18 runs, the Tigers’ staff roared back, holding the Kennesaw State lineup to one extra-base hit in a 7-2 victory at Doug Kingsmore Stadium, Sunday.

Freshman righthander Aidan Knaak (1-0) baffled the Owls for six innings and picked up the first win of his career, surrendering no runs on just three hits and a walk. Relievers Matthew Marchal and Drew Titsworth helped make Knaak’s effort stand up, giving up just three hits and one earned run between them.

Third baseman Blake Wright, who delivered the game-winning RBI in Saturday’s victory, rapped out three singles and scored four of Clemson’s seven runs. Andrew Ciufo and Nolan Nawrocki drove in three runs, apiece, and Cam Cannarella (.517) singled in the first to extend his hitting streak to 16 games.

The eighth-ranked Tigers will wrap up their eight-game homestand when they play host to USC Upstate at 4 p.m., Tuesday. Clemson (6-1) will renew its rivalry with the Gamecocks next weekend with Friday’s game at USC’s Founders Park, Saturday’s game at Segra Park in Columbia and Sunday’s finale at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.
