USC and North Carolina will renew their football rivalry next month in Charlotte, and off the field, the recruiting rivalry between the two is red hot. Three of the Gamecocks’ 2020 commitments are from North Carolina. The Tar Heels fought back earlier this month beating out the Gamecocks for DE Myle Murphy of Greensboro. And

USC is one of the final four with SAF Ja’Qurious Conley of Jacksonville, NC. He has an official visit with the Gamecocks set for the Alabama game. This weekend he plans to visit unofficially either Virginia Tech or North Carolina, depending on his father’s availability to travel. Duke is the fourth school on his list.

A new name to add to USC’s recruiting board for the 2021 class is WR Adonai Mitchell (6-3 187), formerly of Houston but now living in Antioch, TN just outside of Nashville. CB Jahquez Robinson of Jacksonville, FL had scheduled an official visit to USC for Wednesday, but he said Sunday night he most likely will not make that visit. He said the trip is being pushed back to another date. He currently is an Alabama commit.

USC has long had affection for RB Will Shipley (5-11 198) of Matthews, NC. The Gamecocks were one of his first offers and he has visited four times, five if you include competing in a seven on seven tournament on campus. And, he also visited a Gamecock practice in Charlotte prior to the Belk Bowl.

CB Dominick Hill of Orlando committed to USC in late June and he’s holding to that right now though the interest from others continues. Evidence of that, an offer Wednesday night from Texas.
