STRecruiting: DT Nate Kamba loved his spring visit to South Carolina and will be back in June for an official visit

South Carolina recently welcomed DT Nate Kamba (6-4 300) of Charlotte back to campus to watch a spring practice. Kamba also visited last season for the South Carolina State game. Kamba spent a lot of time with defensive line coach Travian Robertson and head coach Shane Beamer on the visit, and he could not say enough good things about that experience.

“It was great.  Actually, I loved it,” Kamba said.  “When I went to the position group with coach T-Rob and them, it was great.  He was coaching. When they were doing film study, he was correcting them on what they were doing wrong and what they could do better.  He was giving them their props, too, when they do something great.   The guys were just themselves.  They were having fun in the film room. I love that.  The D-line group is a real brotherhood.  Funny thing is, at South Carolina, there are a whole lot of brothers, blood brothers, playing with each other.  Everybody was great.”

After sitting in on the meetings, Kamba was on the sideline during the practice session, and that further fueled his enthusiasm for the Gamecocks.

“They were getting after it, but the D-line group was having fun,” Kamba said.  “Coach T-Rob was coaching the boys hard.  It was a great practice.  Everybody was excited.  I felt like I could fit in with the guys.  I talked to the D-line guys, and they were all cool.  Great guys and great people.  I feel comfortable over there.”

The meeting with Beamer also went well for Kamba.

“Great, wonderful guy and great coach,” Kamba said.  “I got to talk to him and ask him questions, and he asked me questions.  I felt he was genuine, none of that recruiting tactic.  He was real.  I had a one-on-one with Coach T-Rob, and he showed me some of the film.  He showed me the stuff where I did good and stuff where I can get better.  Coach Robertson and I have a wonderful relationship.  We talk to each other every fourth day.  Great relationship and really love him.”

Kamba will be back in Columbia on June 5th for an official visit. He has also set official visits with NC State for May 1st and Louisville for May 29th.

This spring, Kamba has also visited NC State and Georgia. He will visit Ohio State on Friday and NC State next week.

Kamba said USC, Ohio State, Georgia, Auburn, and NC State are the schools at the top of his list right now. Some of his other offers are Texas, Louisville, Maryland, Wake Forest, Missouri, Wisconsin, Southern Cal, Florida State, Indiana, Nebraska, Miami, Florida, Michigan State, and North Carolina.

In seven games last season, Kamba recorded 28 tackles with 16 tackles for loss and three sacks. In 16 games in 2024, he had 79 tackles with 26 tackles for loss and eight sacks.
