The current dead period is keeping college recruiters off the streets right now, but that’s not stopping them from getting face time with their top targets.
Wednesday night, the South Carolina defensive staff conducted a FaceTime meeting with SAF Kennedy Green (6-2 195) of Douglasville, GA. The Gamecocks were able to track down Green at his school and visit with him before he jumped into a training session.
“I was at the football field in training, and they called me, and I was able to chop it up with them a little bit and catch up,” Green said. “It only lasted a couple of minutes because I was going to start training, and they didn’t want to hold me too long. While I had training, we talked about different schemes and formations that people call. We were just chopping it up about that a little bit, like what formations do they call. When they see a certain type of formation from the offensive side, what do they call, and things of that nature.”
In January, USC head coach Shane Beamer, along with defensive coaches Clayton White, Torrian Gray, and Deion Barnes, visited Green. And Green has made multiple visits to Columbia, so it’s no surprise the Gamecocks are one of the three teams he’s most focused on right now.
“I’ve got like three schools that I actually like, with that being South Carolina, Miami, and Virginia Tech,” Green said. “At anytime, all of them are interchangeable. I will know for sure who do I like the most once I get around to all these spring practices. Hopefully, after my OVs, I’ll be pretty sure who I like the most, and from there I’ll be ready to most likely commit.”
Green said he’ll take spring visits to USC, Miami, Virginia Tech, and Nebraska. No dates have been set. He has official visits set with USC for May 1st and with Miami for June 5th. He will also take an official visit to Virginia Tech on a date to be determined.
