STRecruiting: WR Iveon Lewis is set to be one of the first official visitors for South Carolina this spring, and he’s looking forward to it

South Carolina coach Shane Beamer and receivers coach Mike Furrey visited Richmond in late January to see WR Iveon Lewis (6-2 180), and they will see him again in early May. Lewis has set an official visit with the Gamecocks for the first weekend of that month, the next step in his process of getting to know the Gamecocks better.

“Just me building me a relationship with them ever since they offered me,” Lewis said.  “Keeping a good relationship with them, the head coach and the receiver coach, and they’ve been showing a lot of love.”

Lewis said he and Furrey have already hit it off really well, and he’s the kind of coach he could see himself playing for.

“He just keeps it real,” Lewis said.  “He’s developed a lot of good receivers, and that’s somewhere that I want to be, with a coach that develops great receivers.”

Lewis revealed that he has been to USC in the past for seven-on-seven events, but not for a recruiting visit. He might also get in for a visit in the earlier part of spring, prior to his official visit.

The Gamecocks’ interest in Lewis goes back four years. They first offered him in October of 2022 by secondary coach Torrian Gray.

Lewis has also set an official visit to Virginia Tech for May 29th, and he also plans to take one to Florida State. These visits will go a long way towards Lewis making his decision later in the summer.

“I just want to be with great coaches, great coaches who are going to develop me to be the best athlete I can be, and to be a good man when I leave,” Lewis said.  “I’m looking for a great place.  A great town.”

Lewis was offered by Kentucky on Monday. He also has offers from Ohio State, Oklahoma, Purdue, Rutgers, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, USF, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and James Madison. Right now, he calls South Carolina and Florida State as two at the top of his list.

Last season, Lewis had 41 catches for 1046 yards and 12 touchdowns.
