South Carolina won the battle with Lane Kiffin and LSU for QB Landon Duckworth of Jackson, AL. Duckworth informed Hayes Fawcett of Rivals Thursday morning that he will stick with his commitment to the Gamecocks and not join Kiffin in Baton Rouge.
Duckworth has had a long association with Beamer and the Gamecocks, going back to when he visited for a recruiting cookout in the summer of 2023 and then committed in August. He decommitted from the Gamecocks in June of 2024, but then recommitted in July of this year.
Duckworth held firm with his second commitment, despite the rocky season and the firing of quarterbacks coach Mike Shula. Kiffin, who had recruited Duckworth when he was at Ole Miss, made an 11th-hour run at him, but came up short.
This season, Duckworth has thrown for 2160 yards, 20 touchdowns and 9 interceptions while completing 62% of his passes. He’s also rushed for 599 yards and 11 touchdowns.
For his career, Duckworth has thrown for 7895 yards with 89 touchdowns and 25 interceptions. He’s a career 63% passer. He’s rushed for 1651 yards and 31 touchdowns.
Also, Thursday morning, RB Carsyn Baker of Fairburn, GA, opted for Texas A&M. The Aggies had not been reported as a major player for Baker, who decommitted from Florida last week and took an official visit to South Carolina last weekend. He also had made official visits to North Carolina and Kentucky.
