After a couple of painful setbacks on the recruiting trail, South Carolina bounced back in a big way Wednesday with a public commitment from DT Noah Clark (6-4 330) of Durham, NC. The Gamecocks beat out NC State, Duke, Virginia and Virginia Tech for Clark who made official visits to all five schools.
Clark, who chose July 2nd for his announcement because it corresponds with his birthday, made his official visit with the Gamecocks on June 6th. That weekend, he witnessed the kind of family atmosphere he was looking for in a football program.
“Just seeing everything, how the players react, and how the coaching staff is, it’s just a family environment,” Clark said following his visit. “South Carolina showing how much of a family they are. They are not faking it at all, not putting on a show. This is how they act.”
Clark spent a lot of time with defensive line coach Travian Robertson, and he showed him a lot of video on how he uses his guys up front.
“The defensive line never stays in one spot. They are always moving and always trying to make plays,” Clark said. “Coach T-Rob preaches how they don’t want to be people eaters, they want to go make plays, move around, go get sacks. TFLs get paid is what he says. He wants them to move around and have fun while you’re doing it. That’s really what’s important about that defense.”
Clark was one of the top defensive linemen in North Carolina last season after totaling 78 tackles with 18.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks.
Clark gives the Gamecocks ten commitments for the 2026 class and the second for the defensive line. He’s also the third commitment from North Carolina.
