South Carolina baseball coach Paul Mainieri scored a big Portal recruiting win Saturday when Purdue first baseman Logan Sutter (6-1 215) announced he will transfer as a grad student to the Gamecock program for the 2026 season.
Sutter is a native of Loomis, CA who played two seasons at Folsom Lake JC near Sacramento. He played the lat two seasons with the Boilermakers and broke through this season as one of the top hitters in the Big 10.
Sutter played nearly all his games at first base, though he did draw a start at third and a handful as a DH. As a junior he was primarily as DH with a few starts at third and one at first.
This season Sutter batted. .367, second highest in the Big Ten, with 15 homers and 62 RBIs. He had a .70i9 slugging percentage. He drew 36 walks and struck out 47 times. On defense, Sutter committed just two errors.
