#STRecruiting: Ridge View standout Korie Corbett excited about the opportunity offered by the #Gamecocks

South Carolina basketball coach Lamont Paris has been tracking 6-4 Ridge View guard Korie Corbett since his tenth grade season. Now as Corbett prepares to start his junior campaign, he can do so with the knowledge he can play for Paris if he chooses. Earlier this week Paris offered Corbett who made an unofficial visit last weekend.

“It meant a lot.  It let me know that the work I’ve been putting in was being seen, especially by the biggest school in my hometown,” Corbett said.  “It meant a lot to experience that with my family.”

Corbett plays for one of the top programs in the state and has been exposed to the highest level of competition both at home and on the AAU circuit. That has brought out the best in him, and Paris has let him know he’s seen that as well.

“He loves how much of a competitor I am and how good of a teammate I am,” Corbett said.  “He also liked how I have good feel for the game and good instincts.  I’d most likely would be playing the point or the two.”

Paris has focused in on several local stars in his three years in Columbia, and he’s kept most of them at home. He’ll have a good chance with Corbett because he’s always been a big fan of the Gamecocks.

“I love the program,” Corbett said.  ‘I’ve been really all around it my entire life  because my grandad had season tickets to the boys and girls games for as long as I can remember.  As of more recently, I love how they are getting all the South Carolina kids, like GG (Jackson) and Cam Scott.  People I look up to.”

Corbett will take his first official visit this weekend to Ole Miss. He has not scheduled any other visits. He also has offers from Cal, SC State, Charleston Southern, Nichols State and Bethune-Cookman.
