#STRecruiting: Sumter DE Anthony Addison looking forward to return trip to #Gamecocks Saturday

DE Anthony Addison (6-3 215) of Sumter has become a prime target for USC in the 2025 class, and Saturday he will return to campus for a junior day which will give him a chance to discuss things in more detail with head coach Shane Beamer and defensive ends coach Sterling Lucas. Addison visited last March and was in for a game in November.

“This will be my first visit going back this year, and getting to meet some of the new coaches they have on their coaching staff,” Addison said about one of his priorities for the visit.  “Just see how I fit in their defensive scheme, because that’s what matters at the end of the day.”

Prepping him for the visit has been Lucas. The two talk on a regular basis.

“He was just telling me it’s going to be a good time, it’s going to be a basketball game and stuff like that,” Addison said.  “Getting to know the coaches better.  I’ll probably be able to speak to Coach Beamer a little bit more on this visit and see how I would fit into their program if I choose to go to South Carolina. I like them, but I’m still keeping my options open.  Stuff might change.”

This will be the first recruiting visit of the year for Addison. He will visit Tennessee next weekend. Florida State has been coming on strong and he’d like to visit there as well. This month coaches from Tennessee, Florida State, Cincinnati, Charlotte and Wake Forest have been by the school.

Addison plans to eventually narrow his focus to a small number of schools and then go from there with his decision.

“I want to take official visits to at least a couple of schools before I try to make a decision on where I’m going to go,” Addison said.

Addison will be joined on the visit by his 2024 teammate LB Antoine Bracey (6-1 215) who remains uncommitted at this point. Last season he had 79 tackles with nine tackles for loss and four interceptions.

Last season, Addison was also a key part of the Sumter defense with 96 tackles, 25 tackles for loss and 6 sacks.
