#Gamecocks hit the road for Gainesville hoping Omaha will be next stop (AUDIO)

The USC baseball team wrapped up practices in Columbia Wednesday afternoon then boarded the bus for Gainesville, FL for their Super Regional showdown with Florida. Two more wins and the Gamecocks are back in Omaha for the first time since 2012.

The Gamecocks and Gators met in Columbia in April with the Gamecocks sweeping the three-game series from the then third-ranked Gators. After that, the teams went in different directions. The Gamecocks swooned, largely due to injuries, and won just five more regular season games, and the Gators picked up the pieces to go on and win a share of the SEC regular season title.

The Gamecocks, however, are healthy now, and with their lineup back together, they rolled through their regional last weekend with three straight wins. The Gators, who are the #2 seed in the NCAA Tournament, had to come back through the loser’s bracket to win their regional, which they clinched by beating Texas Tech Monday.

Before departing Founders Park Wednesday, USC coach Mark Kingston and some players met with the media.
