#STRecruiting Notebook 3-19

USC had an active recruiting weekend as prospects primarily from the 2024 and 2025 classes came through to watch practices on Friday and Saturday. And somebody in the 2024 class committed as Shane Beamer sent out a commitment alert Saturday night. One possibility would be Greenville OG Blake Franks who was expected in for a visit Saturday. Franks hasn’t spoken to the media in weeks and has been deciding between the Gamecocks and Clemson. He has visited both multiple times and has put off making a decision multiple times.

Another possibility would be Dillon OT Josiah Thompson. Just a few hours after another unofficial visit to USC Tuesday, Thompson (6-7 290) made public that he knows where he wants to play his college football. via a tweet, Thompson wrote, “I know my decision now!!”

OT Liam Andrews (6-5 260) of Brookline, MA visited Clemson and USC earlier in the week.

2025 OT Demetrius Campbell (6-6 300) of Orlando, 2025 OT Thomas Zimblatti (6-3 315) of Richmond Hill, GA, 2025 Edward Coleman (5-11 185) of Savannah visited USC earlier in the week.

Aiken WR Braylon Staley Saturday night named his top ten schools. Clemson is in the group along with Georgia Tech, Florida, Penn State, Tennessee, Miami, North Carolina, Alabama, Auburn and Georgia.

WR BJ Gibson of Rochelle, GA has USC in his top 13. The others are LSU, Tennessee, Georgia Southern, Northwestern, USF, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Florida, Auburn, Stanford, Georgia and Kentucky. He was at the USC junior day January 21st. Since then, he’s made two visits to Florida State and one to Florida.

USC target WR Micah Gilbert visited Pitt.

Clemson target SAF KJ Boden visited Auburn.

USC target CB Mello Jones of Swainsboro, GA committed to Georgia.

2025 SAF Faheem Delane (6-2 186) of Olney, MD has USC in his top 11. The others are Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Penn State, Virginia Tech, Southern Cal, Maryland, Oregon, Ohio State and LSU.

2025 RB Tre Leonard of West Florence plans to visit USC Thursday.

2025 OG Chauncey Gooden (6-4 315) of Nashville plans to visit USC March 30th.

USC target TE Caleb Odom visited Georgia Saturday and was offered.

Clemson and USC target WR Amari Jefferson visited Georgia Saturday.

USC and Clemson target WR Jonathan Paylor of Burlington, NC will visit NC State Friday.

Lexington QB Taiden Mines gets his first offer from Allen University.

6-8 Wofford transfer BJ Mack may be ready to announce his new stop on Tuesday. He tweeted Saturday that he has some news coming out that day. He’s had several major program head coaches come in for home visits including USC’s Lamont Paris. LSU, Florida and Butler coaches were among the others.

Clemson offered 6-9 Dallas Thomas of Little Rock, AR.

Stockrisers reported USC was in touch with Central Michigan transfer 6-0 Kevin Miller.

Clemson has been in touch with Wofford transfer 6-6 Messiah Jones according to Jamie Shaw of On3 Sports.

From Verbal Commits, 6-6 Cam Jones of SC State and 6-0 Emorie Knox of Charleston Southern are in the Transfer Portal.
