#Gamecocks offense gets a boost heading into LSU game

WR Jalen Brooks will be in uniform for USC Saturday at LSU (USC Athletics)

The USC offense has missed another big-play maker alongside Shi Smith thru the first four games. Wednesday, transfer receiver Jalen Brooks finally was cleared by the NCAA to play this season, so he could be the answer Will Muschamp and Mike Bobo have been seeking to compliment Smith. Brooks transferred to USC in August from Tarleton State in Texas after playing his first two seasons at Wingate. He has been practicing with the Gamecocks since then while awaiting word on his eligibility.

Last season at Wingate, Brooks caught 35 passes for 751 yards and 6 touchdowns, and he was named to the first team of the All-SAC team. He had 15 catches for 247 yards and 3 touchdowns as a freshman in 2018. Brooks and his high school coach always felt he had more talent than a D-2 level player, so he made the decision to head west to Tarleton, but family issues led him into the NCAA Transfer Portal last summer.
