#STRecruiting: Chandler and Streeter continue their conversations

Bubba Chandler

Clemson quarterbacks coach Brandon Streeter was back in contact with QB Bubba Chandler (6-4 195) of Bogart, GA Tuesday night. After first reaching out to the Georgia baseball commitment last week, Streeter and Chandler had a FaceTime meeting as a follow up. Chandler is one of at least two quarterbacks Streeter is basically interviewing for an offer for the 2021 class.

“He talked about program with my family,” Chandler said. “We talked for an hour. We talked about how fast the process is going to be with a scholarship. We talked about my major, about me playing baseball and how Dabo (Swinney) loves two sport athletes in high school, and especially college. We also talked about me getting on campus and how important family is there.”

Chandler said there’s more to come for him from the Clemson coaches.

“I’m supposed to FaceTime with Coach (Tony) Elliott tomorrow (Wednesday) and Dabo soon. It was a great conversation, I love me some Clemson.”

And what do the Clemson coaches say they love about him?

“My arm and how talented I am,” he said. “And especially how competitive I am with everything I do.” Chandler accounted for 30 touchdowns last season.

Chandler is a righthanded pitcher and shortstop and has been committed to the Georgia baseball team since last summer. None of his football offers at this point…Elon, Gardner-Webb, Western Kentucky, Mercer, Troy and Charlotte… have given him reason to reconsider that. A Clemson offer would.

“Well, no doubt it would change everything,” Chandler said. “If the offer comes through, no doubt I will consider it.”

Streeter also has been in conversation with Lucas Coley of San Antonio, and Coley also is interested in the Tigers. He nearly committed to Arkansas last Friday until Streeter asked him to delay his decision until his offer status with Clemson was resolved.
