Clemson did not have any new scholarship signees to announce on Wednesday as the Tigers signed 24 of those players in December. But the Tigers did land a quality preferred walk-on in QB Hunter Helms (6-2 205) of Gray Collegiate in Columbia. Helms decided to join a talent laden Clemson quarterback room despite an offer from USF, late interest from Mississippi State and several FCS level offers.
Last season Helms passed for 4108 yards and 47 touchdowns. He passed for 2966 yards and 24 touchdowns as a junior, and 2252 yards and 18 touchdowns as a sophomore.
Wednesday, after announcing his decision, Helms talked with the media about joining the Tigers.
