DT Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins (6-5 265) of Gaffney will be one of the top 2021 recruits in South Carolina. He has not been rated nationally by 247Sports but has a 3-star rating and is listed #8 among top prospects in the state. Making an early move on him was USC. The Gamecocks were one of the first schools to offer him and he has developed a good, early relationship with Will Muschamp and defensive line coach John Scott.
“Good conversations, good relationship building with the coaches, I really like South Carolina,” Ingram-Dawkins said. “I’m building a good relationship with coach Muschamp and coach Scott. They like me being versatile on the defensive line. I can play any position. I have the size to play inside, the speed around the edge to play defensive end, and the strength to play in the middle.”
Ingram-Dawkins said he grew up a Clemson fan as a youngster but has become more of a Gamecock fan as a high school player. He camped at USC and met Scott there and the two have continued to develop their relationship. He also visited USC for the Clemson game last November and is returning for an unofficial visit January 18th.
“Me being comfortable when visiting them and talking about football and how I like South Carolina,” he said. “With me being in-state, I can go up there whenever I want to and visit. As of right now, I have the most contact, the best bond, with the coaches at South Carolina. The best relationship.”
Ingram-Dawkins also has offers from West Virginia, Syracuse and Coastal Carolina. He said he has a lot of contact with the Chanticleers, and he’s also hearing a good bit from Alabama. He plans to take an unofficial visit with the Crimson Tide the first weekend in February. He is looking at a December decision and he will graduate early.
Last season Ingram-Dawkins had 70 tackles, including 17 tackles for loss, and 8 sacks.
