STRecruiting: SAF Seth Williams has his commitment date, but he still doesn’t have a decision

There’s finally a finish line in sight in the recruiting battle between Clemson and Georgia for SAF Seth Williams of Atlanta. Williams, a former Clemson commitment who postponed a July 3rd announcement to give himself more time, has set July 31st for this commitment announcement. He will deliver the news via 247Sports, probably in the 6:00-6:30 PM timeframe.

As of Sunday night, Williams had not made up his mind.

“I’m pretty sure I’ll be ready by then and be all right with my decision,” Williams said. “I’m just going over that aspect of who’s going to develop me the most and where I’m going to go and get to the next level.”

Williams said he’s been hearing regularly from Clemson.

“Everybody. Any defensive coach you could think of, I’ve been talking to him,” Williams said. “Both (schools) have the same selling points. Development. Which one feels like home, family. Just the aspect of the things that go deeper than football because I’ve still got to go to college and be there for three to four years. I like to say three, though.”

Williams said he hasn’t talked that much recently with Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney, but he hears from Georgia head coach Kirby Smart about twice a week. The Bulldogs picked up a commitment from SAF Adryan Cole of Douglasville, GA on Saturday. Some might think that hurts Georgia’s chances for Williams, but he said Cole’s commitment has no impact on his decision.

“Just as tough as college football is, I feel like I want to go in with a good recruiting class. And if it does impact me, it probably impacts me in a positive way because he’ll be playing alongside me for a couple of those years,” Williams said. “Me and Adrian played 7 on 7 together. That’s my guy.”

Williams said he’ll probably make his decision within a few days, and he will contact both schools in advance of his public announcement.

“I feel like it would be a bit disrespectful not to let them know where I’m going to school,” Williams said. “I got enough respect for myself, confidence in myself to let each school know whether I’m going to their school or not.”
