STRecruiting: Former Timberland WR Jordan Gorham adjusting well to his new Florida home and hasn’t forgotten his recruiting roots back in South Carolina

WR Jordan Gorham (6-5 185) was figured to be one of the state’s top prospects for the 2028 class while he was at Timberland High School. But earlier this summer, Gorham made the decision to transfer to IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL. Now, he’s working on becoming one of the top receivers in Florida as well as on the national stage.

“It’s been just a big learning curve. Just getting ready. This is like college, and it’s going to get me prepared for college,” Gorham said this week from Bradenton. “I definitely miss my family a lot, but I know this is where I’m going to develop the best and get the best training.”

Gorham is already a big-bodied receiver and is bound to get bigger over time. The coaches at IMG have already started to work with him on how to better make use of his size advantage.

“Just teaching me how to be more versatile, just being more of an asset,” Gorham said. “If I’m 6’5 playing in the slot, or I’m 6’5 running a route and controlling my body very well, then that makes me more of an asset to the team.”

Receiver coaches at USC and Clemson, Mike Furrey and Tyler Grisham respectively, have made it clear to Gorham that he would be an asset to their teams. He’s had a lot of involvement over the years with both programs, and his interest in the in-state programs here has not dropped off despite his departure for the Sunshine State.

“I hear from Coach Furrey almost every day of the week,” Gorham said. “I definitely hear from the staff a lot. He just shows me and my family a lot of love and how cool it would be to come play back home. I actually got the offer at camp. I camped there my freshman year, and I got it June 5th going into my sophomore year. I definitely love them. Coming to play back home would definitely be special. I definitely could see myself there. South Carolina is definitely one of my top schools for sure.”

Along with the camp visits to USC. Gorham made it in for three home games last season, and he’ll be back for more this season. He is also planning to attend games at Clemson, Missouri, Louisville, Florida, and Florida State.

Gorham has also been a regular visitor to Clemson. He has camped there since the eighth grade, and he visited last season for the Syracuse game. He just needs an offer from the Tigers to take his interest to the next level.

“That’s just the only thing I’m waiting on,” he said. “I just don’t want to put a school up there, and there’s not an offer behind that. I feel that’s not right, but if I had to say just overall top schools, they would definitely be up there. I’m talking to Coach Grisham right now. We don’t talk often, like maybe once a month, but I know I’m supposed to be talking to him soon. Hopefully, there’s good news behind that. I really love them. They show a lot of love. They show me how much I could fit into their program and what they do with receivers overall, and who they put in the league…DeAndre Hopkins, Tee Higgins, and Bryant Wesco is coming up next.”

Gorham also has offers from Georgia, Colorado State, Louisville, Memphis, UCF, Arkansas, USF, Wake Forest, Kentucky, Duke, Vanderbilt, Missouri, Florida, Florida State, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, Nebraska, Virginia Tech and others.
