The second game of the season for USC, Georgia in Columbia, figures to be a magnet for the Gamecocks top football targets. One of those is RB Tahj Gary of Atlanta who already has visited three times and is planning to set his official visit for that weekend.
Gary was at USC last week for a seven-on-seven tournament and he turned that into an unofficial visit.
“It’s a high interest in them,” Gary said. “Good, genuine people. It kind of feels like home to me a little bit. They’ve been showing me a lot of love talking to me on a daily basis and stuff like that.”
Gary said he hears regularly from Will Muschamp, Bobby Bentley and Bryan McClendon. The relationship there is good, what he wants to see more is how he might fit in the Gamecock offense.
“I’m used to a spread or pro offense, just nothing too wild really,” he said. “I can do a lot of things, I can be moved out into the open space and stuff like that, into a wide receiver. I’m looking into the offense a lot about that, that’s good for me and the way I play.”
Gary also has visited Florida State, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, NC State and Auburn. He said might visit Purdue and Virginia Tech at some point. He has had a top eight of USC, North Carolina, Purdue, Kentucky, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Boston College and Arkansas. He said he’s narrowed his list in his mind but is not ready to disclose that shorter list.
Gary plans to announce his decision around the start of the school year or about a month in.
Last season he rushed for 1300 yards, caught passes for over 800 yards and scored 31 touchdowns.
