Clemson and USC recently joined the offer parade for OL Hunter Rayburn (6-4 310) of Pensacola, FL. Clemson had earlier offered his teammate OL Adrian Medley and the two of them plan see the Tigers next month.
Clemson offensive line coach Robbie Caldwell visited Pensacola High a couple of weeks ago on an evaluation trip and he watched Rayburn in a spring practice. The next week recruiter Jeff Scott came thru and made the offer.
“He basically said they like the way I play, they like my size, they like my athleticism, that kind of stuff,” Rayburn said. “It’s huge. Their academics are great. Their football is fantastic. It’s a great package. It meant a lot.”
USC also was in twice to evaluate Rayburn and offensive line coach Eric Wolford watched his spring game and then offered a couple of days later.
“I haven’t talked to them as much,” Rayburn said. “I haven’t talked to very many people from South Carolina so there’s not really a relationship there. They had a great season last year. Coach Muschamp used to be at Florida and I followed Florida pretty closely. I don’t know him very well but I know what he’s done. That’s a big one, too.”
Rayburn said the schools standing out with him at this point are Clemson, Florida, Texas A&M, Auburn, Mississippi State and Central Florida but he said he’s still “pretty much wide open.”
Rayburn said he and Medley will take several visits together this summer as they have similar offers and one of those stops will be Clemson. And he said USC is a possible visit for him but he’s not sure on that yet. He plans a decision by the end of summer. Rayburn will be an early graduate.
