The Baltimore Ravens made former Gamecocks TE Hayden Hurst the first tight end selected in Thursday’s NFL Draft with their First-Round selection at #25 overall.
Hurst, who set school records for receptions in a single-season (48) and a career (100) by a tight end (100), becomes the first Ravens First-Round pick at TE since they selected Todd Heap 31st overall in 2001.
The baseball-player turned tight end joined the Gamecocks in 2015 as a walk-on, after leaving behind a pitching career with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The selection of Hurst marks the 13th First-Round pick for the Gamecocks, the eighth since 2000, making him the first since Jadeveon Clowney (2014, Houston).
