The excitement from Thursday’s 3-2 South Carolina win over #3 Arkansas could not carry over to Saturday as the Gamecocks dropped a pair of seven-inning shutout decisions, 2-0 and 3-0.
South Carolina had just four combined hits in the final day of the series between the two games, three of them coming from Justin Row.
Adam Hill gave up two runs on three hits with three walks and five strikeouts during the doubleheader opener, while Cody Morris surrendered just an unearned run in his five innings in the nightcap.
Row’s three hit day Saturday capped off a banner week for him, as he collected six hits including five in the Razorbacks series. With two hits in the Saturday finale, Row notched his fifth five hit game of the year.
Carlos Cortes had five hits on the week, with three of them (including a home run) coming in the dramatic upset victory over Arkansas Thursday.
South Carolina plays Tuesday against Presbyterian followed by a three-game weekend series hosting LSU at Founders Park.
