The South Carolina Gamecocks win and move on. After scoring 21 and 21 respectively in the meeting at Ole Miss on December 31, Chris Silva and Frank Booker repeated that output again scoring 21 and 21 in helping USC advance to the 2nd round of the SEC Tournament with an 85-84 win over the Rebels. The Gamecocks made 12 three pointers, one off their season high.
USC took the 48-45 lead with just over 14 minutes to play, on a Wesley Myers three-pointer, following a block on the defensive end from the SEC defensive player of the year, Chris Silva. Deandre Burnett who was held to five-points, hit back-to-back three’s helping Ole Miss on an 8-0 run to take a 53-48 lead with 13:03 to play.
USC responded with a 20-8 run over a nearly six-minute stretch to go up 68-61. The lead would extend to nine and never get closer than three, with the exception of an Ole Miss three at the buzzer when trailing by four.
Five players scored in double figures for USC, hitting 57% from three-point range for the game.
South Carolina will take on 6th seeded Arkansas on Thursday night at 9 pm ET.
