South Carolina basketball coach Frank Martin on Monday passionately addressed the allegations which implicated former player PJ Dozier and current assistant Chuck Martin for their interaction with agents.
Dozier, according to a balance sheet obtained by Yahoo! Sports, was to be paid $6,115 by the agency ASM Sports while he was at South Carolina.
Chuck Martin, according to a separate report from Yahoo!, was referenced in an email of an ASM agent trying to “close the deal” with current Gamecocks forward Brian Bowen while Martin was an assistant for Tom Crean at Indiana.
Bowen ended up at Louisville, after his father allegedly accepted a payment of $100,000 in exchange for his son playing for the Cardinals. The younger Bowen, now on the Gamecocks roster practicing but ineligible to play, is petitioning the NCAA for reinstatement to play next season.
Frank Martin said he would be “surprised” if either Dozier or Chuck Martin was involved in these dealings, during an exchange with a reporter, Monday.
