The #11 Clemson Tigers baseball team answered the test of a ranked team coming in to Doug Kingsmore Stadium winning three games over #10 Dallas Baptist.
The Tigers won Friday’s game going away, 12-1, thanks to home runs from Chris Williams and Drew Wharton with Williams reaching base four times falling a triple shy of the cycle. Jacob Hennessy threw 6 1/3 scoreless innings, striking out eight batters for his first win.
Wharton hit a pair of three-run homers in the Tigers’ 9-1 win in game two of the series Saturday. Bryce Teodosio also went deep for Clemson, as Brooks Crawford struck out five batters through five innings to earn the win for the Tigers.
The Tigers won the final game of the series, 3-2, played as the finale of a doubleheader Saturday. Seth Beer hit his second home run of the year with a two-run long ball in the opening inning. Williams drove in his fifth run of the weekend, and Jake Higginbotham threw seven innings of one-run ball with seven strikeouts for the win.
