Clemson was a little late to the party with DB Trevon Flowers (6-1 185) of Tucker, GA, but not too late. The Tigers first contacted him Saturday. Dabo Swinney and Mickey Conn plan to meet with him at school Wednesday and he will reciprocate their interest by taking an official visit starting Wednesday afternoon and running thru Friday. Flowers is a newcomer to football. Baseball was his thing and he signed with Kentucky as a middle infielder in November. Last season was his first in football and he played so well that he decided to ask out of his Kentucky letter of intent and pursue both sports in college. Clemson will give him that chance.
“It’s a great opportunity,” he said. ‘I’ve talked to the baseball and football coaches. The baseball coaches already knew me from showcases and stuff like that. I’m looking forward to going down there and seeing what they have to offer.”
Flowers said Clemson has not officially offered but he thinks that will happen during the meeting Wednesday. The Tigers like him as a safety.
“I’m just looking to make sure I’m around good people and a good environment,” Flowers said.
His only other official visit has been to Kentucky and after he finishes at Clemson he will go directly to Tennessee for an official visit there. Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt met with him at school on Tuesday.
Flowers said he does not have a favorite at this point and these visits will play a major role in his decision.
