Former Blythewood DB Khris Pam grew up down the road from USC, but he had to travel quite a few extra miles to join the Gamecock football program.
Pam said Sunday he will accept a preferred walk-on offer from Will Muschamp to join the program for the 2018 season. He hopes to enroll this month but if he can’t, he’ll enroll in the summer.
Pam, who played in the Touchstone Energy North-South Game following his senior season, signed with Presbyterian in 2016 and redshirted. He transferred to Georgia Military Junior College for the 2017 season hoping to land offers from major programs.
The walk-on offer from the Gamecocks was his best opportunity for that and he was happy to take it.
“I started talking to Coach Muschamp when he came down to GMC and kept in touch,” Pam said. “I just graduated and he told me he would love me to play for him and it led to me being a offered walk on spot. I feel blessed to be able to compete in the best conference in college football. With this opportunity, it means a lot to me and I thank God because I’ve been waiting patiently and the work I put in is finally paying off. I know I can come in and bring fire to the secondary. With the ones that are there now , and including me, the secondary just keeps adding talent.”
Last season for Georgia Military Pam recorded 11 tackles, 1 interception and 3 pass break ups in 8 games. He plans to play corner with the Gamecocks.
