WR Jacoby Pinckney (6-3 200) of Dorman will be one of the state’s top recruits in 2019 after a junior season of 65 catches for 1075 yards and 7 touchdowns. As his recruiting starts to heat up, Pinckney said he’s more likely to leave the state than stay home based on the level of recruiting interest he’s receiving.
USC was one of Pinckney’s first offers but he said he hasn’t heard from the Gamecocks in months. Clemson hasn’t offered and he talks with the Tigers only occasionally. His top schools at this stage are Virginia Tech, Ole Miss, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida and Indiana. Each has offered and is recruiting him hard.
“I’m always open for offers,” Pinckney said. “If Clemson offered, that would be a big one. They do throw it around a lot and they are close to home. USC, to be completely honest, it’s probably too late. They are not really on my radar.”
Last season Pinckney went to games at Clemson, Virginia Tech and Georgia. He plans to take some official visits this month and in February for junior days and other recruiting events.
Pinckney said he will sign in December if his mind is made up and he’s planning to graduate early.
