Clemson ran its ACC record to 2-0 Wednesday night with a 74-70 win at Boston College. The Tigers, who are ranked 25th this week, are now 13-1 overall. Donte Grantham led the Tigers with 23 points and 14 rebounds. He was one of four Clemson players to score in double figures.
The Tigers went on a 16-0 run in the first half to build a 33-14 lead, but by the midway point of the second half the lead was down to three at 53-50.
A Grantham three stopped the bleeding and the Tigers rebuilt the lead to nine. But the Eagles had another surge in them and tied the game with 1:02 to play at 68-68.
The Tigers were able to pull away by hitting six straight free throws down the stretch while BC made just 1 of 5 field goal attempts in the final minute.
Marcquise Reed added 17 points for Clemson and Elijah Thomas knocked in 16. BC’s Jerome Robinson led all scorers with 28 points.
Clemson returns home Saturday afternoon to face Louisville with a Noon tip.
