Nothing like a Signing Day surprise to excite the masses in one way or another. Clemson Wednesday signed OL Jackson Carman (6-6 294) of Fairfield, OH. He had the Tigers along with Ohio State and Southern Cal as his finalists and took official visits to each.
The sentiment going into today was that Carman would stay home and play for the Buckeyes. But word began to trickle out that it could be Clemson, and when Dabo Swinney interrupted his Signing Day speech to Clemson fans inside the football operations building to take a phone call from a recruit, the reality of that possibility began to hit home with Tiger fans.
“As of today I will be a Clemson Tiger,” is all Carman said to announce his intentions before donning at Clemson visor.
“He is physical and has great balance between athleticism, size, power and strength,” said Carman’s coach Jason Krause. “He plays with high tenacity and has a love for physically blocking people. His goal every down is to win tha rep and dominate the opponent. He doesn’t take a play off with that mentality.”
Carman visited Clemson in the spring and later for his official visit and he developed a strong bond with the coaching staff.
“He feels really comfortable around those guys and with them personally,” Krause said. “And then there’s the program Clemson has put on the field and the location. It’s a great area and the facilities are phenomenal.
Carman gives the Tigers 13 signess for the 2018 class.
