#STRecruiting: Sandidge won’t be one of the early signees

December 18, 2017 By Phil Kornblut

Rick Sandidge

DL Rick Sandidge of Concord, NC won’t be among the early signees on Wednesday his coach confirmed Monday.  According to coach Glenn Padgett, Sandidge has not said anything to him to indicate a change in plans for him to take official visits in January and sign in February.

It was reported last week that Sandidge has official visits set with Georgia, North Carolina, Michigan and USC for the four visitation weekends before the national signing day of February 7th.  Following Saturday’s Shrine Bowl, Sandidge said he wasn’t aware of any specific dates himself but would use the visits to add to what he already knows about the schools.

“I already know how I feel about these schools, it’s just for having a good time for my family and the coaches and stuff like that,” Sandidge said.  “If I have any questions, I’ll make sure I ask them.”

Asked if he has a favorite as he goes into the next phase of his recruiting with the official visits next month, Sandidge cracked a smile and said, “I can’t answer that question.”

Sandidge has strong ties to USC with his mother as a grad and saw the Gamecocks play several times during the season. That has given him a certain comfort level with them.

“I’ve just been there so many times really and I’ve got a real good relationship with Coach Muschamp, coach LT (Lance Thompson) and Coach Bentley.”

Sandidge said he’s not yet had is in home visit with the Muschamp and is expecting that to happen in January.

In the Shrine Bowl, Sandidge was among North Carolina’s top defenders with 5 tackles including 2 tackles for loss and a sack.
