The South Carolina Gamecocks began the first season following their first Final Four appearance on a winning note, as the Gamecocks defeated Wofford 73-52 in the inaugural game at Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium in Spartanburg.
Four players scored in double figures for South Carolina, who used a 12-0 run to start the second half to create some space from the Terriers.
Maik Kotsar led the scoring with 13 points, and Frank Booker added 12 to pace a Gamecock contingent that shot 47 percent from beyond three, making good on the preseason promise from head coach Frank Martin.
The inside play of Felipe Haase (10 points, 5 rebounds) and Chris Silva (9 points, 10 rebounds) provided tough sledding for outsized Wofford, as the Gamecocks limited the Terriers to 14 points in the paint.
South Carolina will play Western Michigan Monday in their home opener which serves as the opening game of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off.
