Two years into his run as Clemson’s baseball coach, Monte Lee Thursday earned an endorsement from the administration with a contract extension thru the 2023 season. The extension was approved by the Board of Trustee Compensation committee.
“I’m extremely appreciative for the support of our administration, including Dan Radakovich, president (Jim) Clements and the Board of Trustees,” said Lee in a statement released by the university. “We’ve had two great years at Clemson and are excited to continue to build upon the achievements in future seasons.”
Lee has won at least 40 games and reached the NCAA Tournament both seasons with the Tigers. Attendance last season also was strong with a average of 4625 per game.
What Lee has not done, however, is move the Tigers to the Super Regional round of the NCAA Tournament despite hosting a first round regional each season. In 2016 Oklahoma State won the Clemson regional in last spring it was Vanderbilt moving on from the regional.
