Week three of the season provides USC with its first home game and first chance to host recruits for visits. Many of the Gamecock commitments plan to attend the game against Kentucky. Other top 2018 targets expected, according to the prospects themselves and various reports, include LB Channing Tindall of Spring Valley, LB Dax Hollifield of Shelby, NC, OL Jovaughn Gwyn of Charlotte, OL Dylan Wonnum of Tucker, GA, DB Bryce Thompson of Dutch Fork, TE Elijah McAllister of Rumson, NJ, DB Jaycee Horn of Alpharetta, GA and DL Rick Sandidge of Concord, NC. Prospects for the 2019 and 2020 class also are expected to visit. They will include 2019 prospects DB Akeele Pauling of Ben Lippen, WR Jaylen McCollough of Powder Springs, GA and DB Jalen Perry of Dacula, GA.
USC basketball coach Frank Martin will, of course, be busy making sure Zion Williamson is enjoying himself at the game. Martin also will have in town for an official visit 6-7 Jericole Hellems of St. Louis. He visited NC State last week. One time target 6-9 Manny Bates of Fayetteville, NC canceled his visit for this weekend and will decide Friday between NC State and Georgetown.
Clemson is in the final five with PG Anthony Nelson of South Kent, CT. The Tigers offered this week. Also in his five are Dayton, Seton Hall, West Virginia and Minnesota.
South Pointe DB Steven Gilmore Jr. told Scout.com he may now postpone his announcement planned for Sunday. Gilmore has had a short list of USC, North Carolina, Georgia and Louisville. USC has informed him it doesn’t have room for him at this point.
USC offered DB Ken Montgomery of Tampa according to 247Sports. He currently is committed to UCLA.
