Monte Lee and the Clemson Tigers take the field this week for Lee’s third season at the helm of the baseball program.
Lee and the Tigers will try to build on the success of last year’s team, which hosted a regional for the second consecutive season and spend ten weeks in the Top 10 in the country. The Tigers, however, will be working with mostly a new group, as nine players went drafted into the Major Leagues, tied for the most in the ACC and the most at Clemson since 2009.
Clemson boasts the 15th-highest rated recruiting class according to Baseball America, including three players who were drafted out of high school in Sam Weatherly, Kier Meredith and Spencer Strider.
One big returner for the Tigers is catcher Chris Williams, who comes back for his senior season after having shoulder surgery to repair a torn ligament that plagued his 2017 season.
