Defending Bojangle’s Southern 500 champion Martin Truex Jr. was back on friendly turf Tuesday afternoon to help promote this year’s Labor Day event. First he went fishing at a pond outside of Darlington, then he visited with cancer patients at McLeod’s Hospital Cancer Center in Florence. Truex, who has three victories this season, leads the NASCAR points race as he aims for his first championship. He talked with SportsTalk about the hospital visit and his success on the track this season.
